Sampa Chess Open 2024

The 3rd Chess Festival at Shopping Metrô Tatuapé.
January 29th to February 4th.
1) Objectives
a) Define the Open and the Girls Champions of the Sampa Chess Open BLZ, STD and RPD;b) To increase the visibility of the game of chess and encourage its practice;
c) To grant quotas for the Final of the 90th Brazilian Absolute Championship;
d) To grant quotas for the Final of the 63rd Brazilian Women's Championship;
e) To contribute to the improvement of the technical level of chess in São Paulo and Brazil;
f) Valid for calculating and obtaining the CBX/FIDE rating.
2) Location
Shopping Metrô Tatuapé Address: Rua Domingos Agostim, 91 – Tatuapé, São Paulo – SP, 03306-010 Info: The largest city in Brazil will host the event. São Paulo offers various transportation options and has a wide range of hotels, tourist attractions, and gastronomy.
3) Participation
Blitz and Rapid Tournaments These events are open to any chess player, who must be registered in the CBX. (it is not necessary to be with the CBX 2024 annuity paid). Foreigners do not need to pay the CBX annual fee, but they must inform their FIDE ID number (FIN) and be registered in the CBX as well.
The Standard Tournament is an event open to any chess player, who must be registered in the CBX with CBX 2024 annuity paid. com a anuidade CBX 2024. Foreigners do not need to pay the CBX annual fee, but they must inform their FIDE ID number (FIN) and be registered in the CBX as well.
Note: Limited to 121 participants in each tournament.

The prize money will not be divided and is not cumulative. The winner will receive the prize of the highest value. The order of awarding is: absolute, female, rating and categories. The presence of the player at the awards ceremony is required to be entitled to the prize. The payment of the prizes is made via PIX to the winner's account from the second working day after the event. The PIX data of the winner must be provided via e-mail or WhatsApp to the Organization. The awards (trophies and medals) will be given only at the closing ceremony, being necessary the presence of the winners. The absence, or the lack of written justification, implies the non-receipt of the prize in money or material.

7) REGISTRATION PROCEDURE

7.1 Seniors over 60 years old are entitled to 50% discount on the registration fee, to be requested at any time, applying the discount on the total value (2nd lot), final value with discount applied: R$50,00; R$50,00; R$200,00. The term and age discounts are not cumulative (choose only 1).
7.2 Players with MN, MNF, CM, WCM, MF and WFM homologated titles may apply for a 50% discount (item 7.1) on the registration fee if they have at least 2000 FIDE rating points in the modality to be played (list of 2023/2024).
7.3 GM's, IM's, WGM's, WIM's are exempt from the registration fee, from the moment they confirm their presence until December 15th. There will be special conditions for the first GM's and IM's that contact the organization.
8) SYSTEM AND RHYTHM OF PLAY
8.1 Classic Tournament in Swiss format in 9 rounds with a rhythm of 90' + 30", valid for CBX/FIDE Rating. Obs: Accelerated Pairing Baku Method. 8.2 Rapid Tournament in Swiss format up to 5 rounds with 10' + 2" pace, valid at CBX/FIDE Rating. 8.3 Blitz Tournament in Swiss format up to 9 rounds with a rhythm of 3' + 2", valid at CBX/FIDE rating. § 1° - The pairing program used will be the Swiss Manager, without recourse.
9) TITLES, RULES AND VACANCIES FOR THE BRAZILIAN FINAL
The event will be valid for rules (GM, WGM, IM, WIM) according to the FIDE Handbook. The event will be valid for Brazilian players to apply for the title of National Master by CBX.
10) BYE ABSENT
Players may request BYE ABSENT with the right to 0.5 bonus points via e-mail, one day before the event or before the end of the round preceding the request. A maximum of 1 (one) will be admitted, being forbidden to request for the penultimate or last round.11) TIEBREAKER CRITERIA
The following tie-breaking systems will be adopted: (a) Direct Result (code 11); b) Buchholz with cut of the worst result (code 37); c) Total Buchholz (code 37); d) Most wins, including points by WO (code 68); e) Most games with the black pieces (code 53); if a tie persists, there will be a raffle.
12) WO TIME
The tempo of W.O. will be 60 minutes (for the classic tournament), 10 minutes (for the Rapid) and 3 minutes (for the Blitz) from the beginning of the round. In case the player loses by W.O. and does not present justification, he/she will not be paired in future rounds.13) PROHIBITION OF CARRYING ELECTRONIC DEVICES
The use and carrying of cell phones or any other type of electronic device during the games is forbidden. Violators will be penalized with the loss of the game.14) CHESS EQUIPMENT
The organization requests that players bring their own game material (pieces and watch), in good condition. On the day we will have some materials available for the use of those who do not own them.15) RESULTS

17) APPEAL COMMITTEE
It will be formed during the Technical Meeting and will be composed by the president, two titular members and two substitutes. The appeal will only be accepted in writing, dated, signed and submitted to the Organization within 15 minutes after the end of the last game of the round in which the event occurred and upon payment of the fee of R$ 300.00 in ticket.18) GENERAL CONDITIONS
The participants, from now on, authorize the use of their name, image and voice sound for the diffusion of the tournament, for an indefinite period of time, without any claim for the Organization.
Registration for the event implies absolute compliance with the provisions of these
regulations.
